The waiting can sometimes be suffocating when we start counting up the weeks, months, years, or maybe even decades that we have been waiting for the promise to be fulfilled. I'd be lying if I told you I am always patient in the waiting.
I was feeling this way when I was rushing out of the door the other day to head to fulfill my next ministry commitment, however, when I opened the door, the majesty of this sun halo stopped me dead in my tracks. The front door stood wide open, the items that were just in my hand had made their way to the ground and I was captivated, staring at the wonder in the sky across the way from my front porch. After a few moments, I tried to take a picture but the camera just couldn't do justice to the beauty on display before me. (Keep scrolling for more below image.)
Do you have a pending promise made to you by the Lord? Maybe more than one? Let me remind you of some truths while you are in the waiting.
You are seen. You are loved perfectly and without fail. You are not alone in the waiting. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He never leaves anything half-done. He always finishes what He starts! Everything He allows, He allows for a purpose. "The waiting" may be a time for you and I to learn something new about His character, or about ourselves so that we can grow in our faith. Maybe it is a time of preparation for what is to come. "The waiting" may also be a time for people around us to learn something new about God by the manner that we carry ourselves through the process of waiting. Perhaps it is an opportunity for new salvations as people see how God sustains you and I in the waiting, if we keep humble and obedient.
"The waiting" is a season. A chapter. The page will soon turn and the promise will be fulfilled in God's perfect time. Don't lose heart. Don't release your grasp on the hope of the fulfilled promise. It is coming, and it is closer than it has ever been.
